Tim Lewis on
Creative Photo Techniques
at the May Meeting

Ever since he started scanning his own slides in the early 2000’s Tim Lewis has experimented with flat-bed scanners as cameras. Flowers and other plants, everyday objects, and junk of all kinds are fair game. The high resolution, short depth of focus, long scanning time, uncommon background all ‘conspire’ to challenge anyone wanting to play try something new.

More recently Tim has been looking back at historic photographic processes but the scanner remains full of possibilities to combine the oldest and the newest technologies. He has scanned film and objects printing out the files as digital negatives for cyanotype or other traditional processes. For our program, he will show plenty of photos of his work and others, discuss the kinds of scanners, and available resources. Cat scans included, of course.

Date and Time: Second Sunday of each month.  Our Meet-and-Greet — a great chance to meet fellow members — starts  5:30 pm.

The meeting begins 6:00 pm and will conclude around at 8:00 pm.

Location: On the UNC Asheville Campus, The Reuter Center, One Campus View Rd.,  Asheville, NC 28804, SECOND FLOOR, Room 206, in our usual meeting space.
