with Ken Smith

Please RSVP  to Ken Smith with your name and cell phone number at  http://coordinator@cnpa-asheville.org  no later than Thursday, July 20 so he has a list of attendees in case we call it off due to clouds or have to change locations.

In an effort for a better foreground, Ken will be shooting at the Pounding Mill Overlook, MM 413 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Allow one hour drive time from Asheville.  Ken plans to be there no later than 8:30 to get set up and get foreground pictures before it gets too dark and then stay for the Milky Way to make its appearance. Please note, the Milky Way will probably not be visible for a good hour after sunset so plan accordingly.

Suggested equipment:  In addition to your camera gear, he suggests bringing a chair, snacks and drink.  If you have it, also bring a hand warmer and a rubber band that will fit around your lens to keep condensation off your lens. Ken will cover this with tips on shooting the night sky.

Please note: As the night sky is extremely dependent on the weather, Ken may make last minute changes to the location and/or cancel the event.  It is therefore imperative you let him know by Thursday night if you plan to attend.  Please RSVP to coordinator@cnpa-asheville.org and include your name and cell phone number.

Think about carpooling!
