Parkway Autumn Stroll

Tuesday, October 30, 3:00 PM

Meeting Place: Blue Ridge Parkway Folk Art Center, Parkway milepost 382, just north of the Oteen Parkway access on Tunnel Road.

Photo-Op Leader: Everette Robinson 828-545-1369

Recommended: Comfortable shoes (Tennis shoes fine for this one), layered clothing for tricky October weather.

Recommended equipment: Tripod, polarizer, graduated neutral density filter, and wide-angle and telephoto lenses. Hike: 0.3 mile, one way.

Difficulty: Easy.

Okay, let’s try this again. Last year our October Photo-Op had good participation, but good autumn color just wasn’t there. The participants did a great job with what was on hand to work with, but let’s be optimistic and hope that the colors this year will be more cooperative. Directions: We will meet at the Folk Art Center parking area and proceed to a nearby fall color “hot-spot” to be scouted by me prior to this date. Our goal will be to find a section of the Mountain-to-Sea Trail north of the Folk Art Center where autumn color is peaking. We will then work the forest in that area, each interpreting the color in their own way.

This will be an easy stroll with little walking and (hopefully) lots of color. This is usually peak color time for this area.

Duration: We will probably take a couple of hours and be finished around 5:00-5:30.
